Artisan's Magic Through The Years

Artisan. It's a word that has been thrown around as of late, but what does it really mean?

To us, artisan is a person who has the ability to take raw materials and create something beautiful and useful. This can be done through their expertise in making something by hand or using their creativity to improve upon existing technology.

We carry Capiz Shell Furniture made by our local artisan, and we love working with them because they create beautiful pieces that are strong, durable, and long-lasting. Their craftsmanship is super impressive: the capiz shells are carefully selected and glued together by hand to form a seamless sheet of glass-like material that can be cut into any shape. It's incredible to see how far back this tradition goes.

And what's even more incredible? The fact that their artisanal craft is passed down through generations. The artisan who crafted our furniture learned it from his father and grandfather before him, so he knows all the tricks of the trade and can pass his knowledge onto others in his family.

They use a technique called "lutong bahay", which means "handmade". This involves using only hand tools and no machines in order to create each piece of furniture. The result is a product that has been crafted with passion and care—and one that will last for years to come!
